Love Never Fails 1st Corinthians 13:4-8

I love incorporating my art to my son’s learning together with God’s wonderful words in the bible. In such a way that I can use it in correcting his attitude. This is our primary goal why we homeschooled him, to build his character while academics were just secondary. Parenting is quiet so tough specially if you have a defiant child, seems that sometimes you’re out of track, exhausted and feeling helpless but it is our duty and our mission given by God. Here’s his message in  2 Corinthians 12:9 “But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”

Here’s my son reading 1st Corinthians 13:4-8, Love Never Fails. For his reading material I make the layout and illustrations more subtle so he can gain more attention to the text.

Day 1: Homeschooling with Catholic Filipino Academy

This is how our first day of homeschooling became using Catholic Filipino Academy Kinder 1 curriculum. The Christian living subject is our primary guide, blended with other subjects particulary Science, Reading and Math. I customized it using my vector illustrations since my son is a visual learner, supplemented it with some good picture books.

Reading time with my Kinder 1 homeschooled boy!

We’re now back on our reading lessons since he is now doing better on his writing though his penmanship is still not that really good but indeed a beautiful thing to be celebrated since he greatly struggle to it. That’s the reason why he doesn’t like doing worksheets. Here’s him reading “My Little Dog” by Sue Peterson. I purchased it at www.teacherspayteachers.com.

Furry Yarn Dogs Project

One of our top goal in homeschooling is to nurture his skills, so my husband and I always set an example for him. We always encourage him to be creative and innovative. Here’s what we did since he loves toy dog so much, a yarn DIY project.

Purple Feathered Owl

Mat decorating the toilet roll I’ve doodled. He colored the wings and glued the purple feathers  including the head. He looks so serious during craft time and his “short attention span” personality transformed into a more focused little boy.

Exploring Microsoft Paint

He often sees me working illustrations and graphic design work in my laptop. Without any help and instructions I found my 4-year-old boy exploring the microsoft paint. He started it with abstract design, see below and later it went to a more clearer doodle. He did it by just exploring the tools by himself.
